Overseas Chinese in the US have held a fundraising event for the Sichuan earthquake survivors. The overseas compatriots also conveyed their wishes for the success of the Beijing Olympic Games.

Overseas Chinese in the US have held a fundraising event for the Sichuan earthquake survivors.

Entitled "Love, Contribution, and Hope", the event was also aimed at increasing US public awareness of the disaster.

Participants formed a heart shape, and observed one-minute silence for the quake victims.

Zhang Yizhen, American fifth grader, said, "I want to make a donation to the quake victims. I hope the children in the quake zone will be able to return to school soon and rebuild their homes. I want to show these pictures to my classmates. I think those kids must have suffered a great deal during the quake. And it must have been an unforgettable experience for them."

Performers formed the five rings of the Olympics, and students from a local Kung Fu academy presented a martial arts piece.

A nearly one-hundred-meter long scroll with signatures and messages by overseas Chinese in the States and Canada was on display. It will be sent to Beijing where it will be displayed during the Games.
