China's labor unions helped 27.17 million people obtain jobs, medical care and legal assistance from2003-2008, the All China Federation of Trade Unions said on Thursday.

Unions are expanding their services, especially to include workers in areas hit by the May 12 earthquake in southwest China and those affected by the global financial crisis, a federation official told a forum on globalization and unions here in China's capital.

Federation chairman Wang Zhaoguo urged unions to help maintain stable employment and let more workers share the fruit of China's economic development.
