The 7th Sino-American Technology and Engineering Conference closed in Beijing Tuesday. More than 270 experts on engineering technology from China and the United States attended the conference which started on Oct. 16.

The conference aims to improve the technological innovation ability and management of China's large or medium-sized state-owned enterprises and high-tech companies through exchanges with the US experts.

The conference comprised three discussion groups, including manufacturing equipment, information technology and environmental protection, trying to solve the key technical problems in these fields.

Xu Kuangdi, president of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, attended the closing ceremony of the conference.

Xu said it is important to invite foreign experts to China for exchanges and cooperation in science and technology.

The conference serves as a platform for strengthening science and technology cooperation and upgrading China's own technological innovation ability, he said.
