Beijing to Make Public Property Market Profits

Beijing will make pubic the profit margin of its real estate market following the conclusion of its second economic census, Gu Yanzhou, deputy-director of the Beijing Statistical Bureau, said over a radio talk show on Thursday.

Gu said that the census will help the city government gain a deeper insight into the profit margins of various industries, including those of the real estate sector.

Beijing's second economic census which is currently going on is part of China's 2008 national economic census. Beijing's census this year will focus on its emerging industries like the cultural and tertiary industries.

According to Gu, the second economic census will also include a thorough survey of all buildings around the city. Each building will be given a serial number with the help of GPS technology. For commercial buildings, census officers will check in and survey all companies that reside in them.

The data collected from the second economic census will be made public after the census is completed sometime between August and September 2009.

Beijing's first census was conducted in 2004 and was focused on the basis of the city's social and economic status.
