Red Cross Appeal for Ning'an Schoolchildren

On June 10, a flash flood hit Ning'an City in northeast China's Heilongjiang Province.

A total of 103 died in the flood, including 99 school children, and six others are still missing, according to latest reports released on June 16 by the Ministry of Civil Affairs.

About 200 million yuan (US$24.16 million) is needed for flood relief work in Ning'an.

An appeal is being made by the Chinese Red Cross Foundation to build a Boai (universal love) Primary School to help children who lost their school in the flood.

The names of individuals who donate more than 1,000 yuan (US$120.82) and organizations that donate more than 10,000 yuan (US$1,208.24) will be inscribed on a tablet in the school when it's completed.
