Chinese Government to Aid Typhoon-hit Province
China's Ministry of Civil Affairs Thursday allocated 25 million yuan (more than US$3 million) of emergency relief funds to typhoon-hit Fujian Province.

Typhoon Aere touched the ground twice in the province on Wednesday, followed by heavy rainfall and storms. Economic losses are estimated to reach more than two billion yuan, or over US$240 million, with about 2.5 million people affected.

There have been no reports of death.

The China meteorological sources say Typhoon Aere is getting weaker and is expected to move west after it entered south China's Guangdong Province on Thursday afternoon.
