The first half of this year has witnessed an increase of 552,000
people in the work force of Chinese cities and counties.
The report from the National Bureau of Statistics reveals that
continuing rapid economic growth and seasonal employment
contributed to this big increase.
The average salary of urban employees in the first half of the year
reached 7,100 yuan, or US$855, a 14 percent increase over the same
period of last year.
