China would continue its endeavor of poverty reduction,
fundamentally improving the life of world's one-sixth population,
said Jin Renqing, Chinese minister of finance.
Speaking Thursday at the concluding ceremony of the Global
Conference on Scaling Up Poverty Reduction, Jin said underdeveloped
countries had exchanged and learnt advanced experience in terms of
poverty reduction at the conference through case studies and
dialogues.
He
said the Shanghai Agenda on Poverty Reduction issued at the
conference was an indication of world's determination of poverty
alleviation.
Jin said every country would have its unique way to reduce poverty,
which deserved respects of the international community.
The economic development was the most efficient way to reduce
poverty, the official said. Economic growth would not only
financially support the government's poverty reduction endeavor,
but also provide more employment opportunities to the poor, as so
to improve their life qualities.
A
powerful and efficient government could bring about social and
political stability, which was the prerequisite for poverty
reduction, he said.
Besides, the public and social communities would also play an
important role in future poverty reduction endeavor.
Jin added an opener and more balanced global trade system and amore
efficient international financing mechanism were required for
world’s poverty reduction work in future.
