The Chinese government is stepping up its efforts to regulate the
increasing amount of dangerous wastes discharged by medical
institutions, by publishing a State Council decree, the "Provisions
on the Control of Medical Wastes," Thursday.
The decree, signed by Premier Wen Jiabao, has seven article and 57
clauses, to deal with various matters related to the issue, such as
the handling of medical wastes, supervision and responsibilities of
relevant parties.
It
was aimed at strengthening the safety of handling medical wastes to
prevent the spreading of diseases, protect environment, and ensure
people's health.
All institutions and individuals had the right to expose and sue
any illegal activities concerning medical discharges, it says.
