The Chinese Defense Ministry donated some relief goods, including 1.2 tons of tablets and 15 machines for water purification to Bangladeshi Defense Ministry to help flood affected areas in the country.
More than half of 64 districts in Bangladesh are affected by flood that has already claimed about 200 lives.
At the handing over ceremony here in Dhaka on Thursday, Chen Bingde, member of Central Military Commission of the Communist Party of China and chief of the General Armament Department of the People's Liberation Army, said being informed Banlgadesh is affected by serious flood, the Chinese Defense Ministry prepared some relief goods in a short time. He hoped the goods will do something good for the flood affected people.
Lieutenant General Masud Uddin Choudhury, principal staff officer of Armed Forces Division under President Office, said at the function he thanked the Chinese Defense Ministry for their providing the relief goods to Bangladesh.
Masud said the victims will be grateful to the help of China.
The Chinese military delegation led by Chen Bingde came here Wednesday for a three-day goodwill visit. Bangladesh is the first stop of their three-nation visit which also covers Indonesia and Brunei. (Xinhua News Agency August 10, 2007)
