China Is Open to International Cooperation in Africa

China on Thursday said it is open to working with any other country which is devoted to Africa's peace and development.

"China, with an open and positive attitude, is willing to work with any other country which is devoted to Africa's peace and development," Chinese foreign ministry spokeswoman Jiang Yu told a regular press conference.

A France-Africa summit gathering more than 30 African heads of state takes place on February 15 and 16 in the southern French city of Cannes.

Referring to the summit, the spokeswoman acknowledged that China and the European Union (EU) share common concerns for Africa's peace, stability and realization of Africa's sustainable development.

"China and the EU can play an active role in that," Jiang said.
