Chinese Vice Premier Meets Canadian Agriculture Minister

Chinese Vice Premier Hui Liangyu met here Thursday with visiting minister of agriculture Chuck Strahl, pledging to continue to promote bilateral cooperation in agriculture.

Hui said China and Canada have made remarkable achievements in agricultural sector in recent years.

"I have seen the bilateral trade of agricultural products boom and the technological cooperation in the field strengthened, which have effectively promoted agricultural cooperation and bilateral relations," Hui said.

The Vice Premier also said the agricultural industries in China and Canada have their own characteristics and advantages, and share many things in common.

"The Chinese government values and supports bilateral exchanges and cooperation in the agricultural sector and hopes the two sides will further improve the mechanism and expand cooperation", Hui said.

Strahl arrived here at the invitation of Chinese Ministry of Agriculture.
