China's top legislator Wu Bangguo has visited the dam which could pose a threat to millions of residents in Sichuan Province. The Zipingpu dam is situated over the Yangtze River's main tributary the Minjiang River near Wenchuan County.

Before going to the dam, Wu Bangguo visited Yingxiu township Tuesday morning and called for continued efforts in quake relief operations. Wu Bangguo said the Chinese government will rebuild homes for quake victims.

He left Beijing on Monday to direct disaster relief work in Sichuan. Soon after his arrival at the provincial capital, Chengdu, Wu Bangguo visited a local hospital and a distribution center of relief supplies.
