The meteorological department in Sichuan is forecasting showers and thunderstorms across the province from Tuesday to Thursday of this week.

Rainfall volumes are not expected to be excessive. But the fear is that even a light drizzle could trigger landslides, given the looseness of rock and earth in the region. The department is urging rescue teams and the public to take precautions.

It's added that the weekend is likely to see the weather improve with rain giving way to clouds and some sunshine.
