3 Girls Rescued After Buried for 87 Hours

Three girls have been rescued after being buried under rubble for nearly 90 hours. They were found in severely earthquake-hit Beichuan County. The young survivors were immediately evacuated to the nearest emergency medical center.

This young girl is of one of the three students who were rescued from their collapsed school building after nearly 90 hours. After a medical examination, doctors fed her some chocolate. The girl had no access to any food and water for two days and three nights.

Jiang Yuqi, survivor, said, "(Then the girl shakes her head lightly.) The food couldn't be passed to us."

Wei Xinyu, survivor's father, said, "I was terribly worried about her. I don't know what was happening under the debris. On the contrary, she said she was OK, to make me feel better. "

The three girls were rescued at about five o'clock on Friday morning. They are fourth grade students at Qushan Primary School. The three pupils are young in age, but strong in mind. They continued talking and encouraging each other, despite their desperation and isolation.

Doctors from China Red Cross say one of the three students suffered a fractured lower leg - and will soon be transferred to hospital.
