119 Aftershocks Monitored After Major Earthquake in Wenchuan

As of 9:00 AM on Thursday, 119 aftershocks above 4 on the Richter scale had been monitored since the devastating earthquake on Monday in Wenchuan County of southwest China's Sichuan Province, China Seismological Bureau said on Thursday.

The biggest Aftershock reported so far has been a magnitude-6.1 quake. Quakes above 5 on the Richter scale numbered 20.

A strong aftershock jolted Yingxiu Township in the epicenter of Wenchuan County again, Xinhua reporter at Yingxiu said Thursday morning.

Rocks rolled down from the hills and some dilapidated houses, inflicted by the Monday's devastating earthquake, collapsed completely, according to the reporter.

The 7.8-magnitude earthquake centered on Wenchuan County occurred on Monday afternoon and affected many parts of the country.

The death toll from the powerful earthquake stood at 14,866 as of 2:00 PM on Wednesday and is rising.
