Greek Foreign Minister Dora Bakoyannis expressed her condolences to the government and people of China for the victims of the major earthquake that struck the country on Monday.
She said that the Greek government is willing to provide necessary support to China.
She made the remarks on Monday evening in central Athens while inaugurating the exhibition "Beijing-Athens-Modern Chinese Art".
Bakoyannis said the Beijing-Athens exhibition transports the Athenian visitor to China, at the same time when the Olympic flame is traveling from ancient Olympia to Beijing.
Works of art including paintings, sculptures, videos, photography and designs by 40 of the most representative modern Chinese artists are on display, with many of the artists in the Greek capital attending Monday's opening.
Athens News Agency reported that by Greek standards, it is one of the biggest ever exhibitions of modern Chinese art work abroad. The exhibition of modern Chinese art will run until May 26. The exhibition was organized with the support of the Greek embassy in Beijing.
