"I Serve as a Window for Foreign Classmates to Know About China"

"I serve as a window for my classmates either from Bangladesh or other countries to know about China," said Lin Le, a Chinese boy studying in Bangladesh.

In an interview with Xinhua, Lin said almost all his classmates showed a great interest in China as they liked to know anything about the country. "So I am very popular among my classmates."

Studying in International School Dhaka (ISD) for over a year, Lin, son of Commercial Counsellor Lin Weiqiang at the Chinese embassy in Bangladesh, said, "I have overcome the language difficulties now and enjoy the friendship with my classmates."

Lin is studying in the eighth grade in ISD. Students in his class come from Bangladesh, the Philippines, India, Japan, South Korea and Brunei. He is the only Chinese in the class.

"My classmates show their respect and admiration when they know I am a Chinese. I am very proud of being a Chinese," Lin said.

Lin said there were some books about China in the library of their school. "Some of my classmates read those books and asked me questions about China. I told them what I know to satisfy their curiosity," he said.

Lin said he went back to China twice on vacations last year. "After I came back from China, I told my classmates the latest information I got from there," he said.

The students in ISD are from different cultural backgrounds, but the common interests in football, basketball, video game and other things bond them together, Lin said.

Lin has got used to the life in Bangladesh. "I want to study well and seek higher education in Europe or America. Then I want to go back to China to make contribution to my homeland," he said.
