China, US Join Hands Against Financial Crisis

Chinese Foreign Minister asked the US to stop laying its hand in China’s internal affairs such as Tibet. He emphasized that the Tibet issue is related to China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. While lodging dissatisfactory about the US statement on Tibet and a House resolution introduced by some anti-China lawmakers on Tibet, he urged the US to respect China’s standpoint and concerns.

Yang was concerned about operations of the US navy mapping ship in China's exclusive economic zone in the South China Sea on Sunday.

According to Hillary Clinton at a press conference after their meeting, the two countries agreed that they should work to ensure that such incidents do not happen again in the future.

“The United States intends to work together with China to build a positive, cooperative, and comprehensive relationship,” Hillary Clinton said, adding that the US wants to work together with China to address common challenges and seize common opportunities.

Yang and Clinton, who met the second time within one month, talked about denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula and issues relating to Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iran and Darfur.

At Wednesday’s press conference Acting State Department Spokesman Robert Wood said from time to time, there are going to be elements that come up that cause some tension. “But the most important thing is that the US and China need to work together to solve a whole host of issues that the international community confronts.”
