Due to global warming, China has been witnessing abnormal climate since the beginning of 2007. Statistics show that flood is haunting many places of the country, and the death toll caused by thunderbolt has also reached a new high.
"Now many flood control works in China are under heavy pressure," said Zheng Guoguang, the director of the National Meteorological Administration.
In 2006, Sichuan Province and Chongqing Municipality were struck by severe drought. This summer, a strong flood hit them, causing great loss.
In other parts of China, disasters like drought, thunderstorm and hailstorm have been very common. On the other hand, the number of typhoons has been abnormally small this year. That is to say, drought in southern China might not be eased very soon.
