Nation Takes Green Fight Seriously

Developed nations should provide more help to developing countries in form of technology transfer and the capital so they can really fight climate change, Foreign Ministry spokesman Qin Gang said yesterday.

But that does not mean developing nations should not try on their own to combat global warming, he said.

Developing countries, including China, should attach great importance to the issue and face the challenge positively according to their respective situations and the levels of development.

Qin's remarks came after UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon's urged China to do more to tackle climate change.

Despite its low per capita emissions, China uses effective measures to cut green house gas emissions and control its impact on the environment, Qin said.
