China, Pakistan to Broaden Educational, Cultural Exchanges

China and Pakistan will broaden exchanges in education and training, and enhance cultural contacts and cooperation, according to China-Pakistan Joint Statement issued in Beijing on Friday.

 

The statement said China would help train 130 Pakistan nationals in economic management, trade and investment, finance, tourism and contractual projects between China and Pakistan.

 

China would also help Pakistan set up an engineering technology university and two sides would increase the number of students and visiting scholars in exchange programs as conditions permitted.

 

They welcomed the establishment of Pakistan study centers at China's Peking University and Sichuan University and collaborative links between higher learning institutions.

 

The two countries also welcomed Pakistan's intention to set up an arts, film and cultural academy in China and establishing of China Friendship Center and Confucius Institute in Pakistan.

 

Pakistani Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz began an official visit to China from Monday.
