Australian authorities have registered the Hendra virus vaccine following the minor use permit period monitoring its effectiveness.
The horse-transmitted Hendra virus, often likened to Ebola, has infected seven, and killed four people in Australia after it was detected in the Brisbane suburb of Hendra 20 years ago, Australia' s national broadcaster reported on Wednesday.
The Hendra vaccine for horses was released on a minor permit use in late 2012 so the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) could monitor its effectiveness and side effects without it being registered.
Australia's national broadcaster reported on Wednesday it is one of the most challenging and dangerous diseases Australian scientists have ever worked with.
A human treatment Hendra virus is still in development. Endi
